With the hope of
providing some concrete solutions to families experiencing problems
related to family conflicts or the break up of the family, the
O.P.C.R.has already organized
5 international conferences in collaboration with specialists,
professionals and academics.
These conferences represent
an excellent opportunity to encourage the exchange and sharing
of experiences between researchers and specialists who work
collectively to find solutions that may help the situation of
children and adolescents. Often confronted with poverty, a consequence
of family break up, physical and psychological violence, alcohol
and drug abuse.
The O.P.C.R.
has already held 5 international conferences which had the following
themes:
The objectives
of these international conferences are:
•
To
encourage discussion between researchers in various disciplines
regarding the new approaches concerning family structures
and conflicts and their effects on children;
•
To develop
efficient intervention strategies, individual and collective,
in order to help families who are experiencing family
problems;
•
To elaborate
recommendations for the development of programs and policies
that will ensure better physical, emotional and psychosocial
care for children and families;
•
To encourage
academics and specialists to contribute to the collective,
theoretical knowledge that already exists regarding the
repercussions that technological developments will have
on children and the family;
•
To provide
a forum that favors the exchange of practical experiences
of those interested with issues concerning problems related
to family conflicts so that the O.P.C.R.
is able to develop (with the help of its delegates) intervention
and prevention strategies;
•
To improve
the comprehension of the impact that new family conflicts
can have on the development of the child and the family,
thus giving rise to a greater interest to participate
toward a movement for the protection of the rights of
children;
•
To initiate
an interest and increased support concerning the objectives
and intentions of the O.P.C.R., thus
putting into place an important forum in order to formulate
recommendations which favor the protection of children’s
rights and their well being.
It is by working together and
uniting the efforts of all specialists and researchers that
we will find solutions and will be able to make a difference
for the well being of children and their families.
